B. in Part II. Left 11:07 arrived Ḳaṣr il-Banât 11:14 a large well
preserved single bldg. probably a convent - see B. left 1:20 arrived
Dânā (tomb) 1:30 left 1:42 arrived Dânā 1:45 way rough hilly straight
arrived town many ancient bldgs. partly standing town mostly
rebuilt and inhabited by approx. 250 people Moslem. town surrounded by
olive trees. Left 2:25 arrived 3:50 Ma'ashūrîn, a large kubab town
with ruins of small Roman temple 200 yds to S.E. 2 walls standing
Left 4:00 stopped 4:25 Dâlim a place with few ruins widly? scattered
over about 1 mile (lime-stone) 5 families. 2 built modern houses.

Dâlim uninhabited widly? scattered (1/4 mile) ruins little preserved
but handsome rock hewn tombs. Left il-Ghadfeh 5:15 arrived at
prymadil? tomb (see B.) left 5:25 arrived Ma'râtā 5:50

N. left camp with caravan 8:30 arrived Ma'arrit in Nu'mân 10:38
pace very slow, Fine large Khan, quaint bazaars. Met L. there who
had preceeded N. Left with L 11:27 arrived Tell Minnis 12:20 Lunch on road
12:51 to 1:55 arrived camp at Ma'râtā 2:30 an uninhabited ruin widly?
scattered of a combination of B. basalt and lime-stone. Very pretty camp
among ruins green grass, icanthus, & many red poppies - perfect weather.
4 or 5 tents pitched near us, of people from Tell Minnis who camp here during
spring with flocks of sheep & goats - note transi? stage between nomadic and
settled life. 1/2 hr. from (E.) Ma'arrit 5 mins. S. of road is small inhabited V. Ma'arshimshā
& 20 mins S. by E of it is inhabited V. Ma'arshimmārîn
