Serdjillā 8:00 A. M. Temp 53° Baro L. 27.72 clear, calm

L. & P. left camp 8:10 passed through Dêr Sambil, 9:10 a
large ruin with some well preserved private houses, ruins inhabited in
past by some 20 families Moslem, arrived Binîn 9:45, a well built
modern village of some 30 families with some ruins among them a church.
arrived Sīghâtā 10:10 a small collection of almost completely destroyed
ruins and a Weli tree of good size for the country, arrived 10:55 Ruwêhā
the largest and best preserved of all the ruins in these mtns.
2 churches well preserved - market place surrounded by 2 stories of
columns and many handsome villas. In afternoon they
returned by same route except that they branched off to the
right from Binîn and 10 min. N. of Dêr Sambil stopped at
Kôkabā, a group of ruined bldgs. several well preserved private
houses & a well preserved tower? some 400 yds. E of town & many olive trees. The
town uninhabited & situated on a hill side on N. side of a small
dry wadi which has an E & W. direction.
