il-'Arûs 9:51-10:21 still ascending valley wider to il-Kastal(crossed-out) 11:52
on R. of road, a complete ruin covering in a scattered way some
100 acres with many upright stones, giving the appearance of a very
old cemetary - no inscriptions found. lunched here - #2 Breeze S. to W.
Left 1:45 still ascending to 3:17 top of divide, then descent
into broad valley very gradual nearly flat arrive il-Kastal 3:45 v. mastem arrive 5:45 in-Nebk

The road all the way from Damascus has been a fine Maccad-
amed road-carriage with cut stone culverts - country white lime stone
- land plowed in most places far up the mtn. sides - but not a sign of
vegetation (practically) barren
