Basilica. Near the center of the town is a large
mound enclosed by a wall which still remains
in large portions strongly built and well dressed
with bases which mark the bonding stone.
The enclosure is somewhat over 100yds square
within it are the ruins of a large building
which tho' oriented seems to have been a civil
basilica. The plan is that of a large nave
divided by two rows of 13 columns each. The
central alley was very wide (10m 35) and the
side aisles correspondingly narrow.

At the east end is a broad semicircular apse
strengthened by four buttresses on the exterior. There
were apparently no side chambers but at the end
of the south aisle was an arch which led into a
passage connecting with buildings at the S.E.

The building is much ruined - nothing remaining
above ground, but the bases of the columns and other
fragments show mouldings of excellent character.

At the sixth column from the apse a
balustrade of stone bisected the nave, only the
tops of the posts were visible above ground but
