On the other side I beg to forward
you a copy of a Letter which I have received from
Mr O 'Dowd respecting the Manors of Easington & Boulby.

Sir, 23d Septbr 1858.
There is a Vessel in your Neighbourhood
called the "John" owned by Mr Chapman. - She has
been employed all the summer carrying Stone for
the new Fort at Killingholme. - I am informed
that she was on shore near Flamborough Head
some time last year. Will you have the goodness
to get particulars for me from Mr Chapman - or
request him to call here and see me on the subject.

This Vessel - the "John" - of this Port - Register Number

1851 On the 19th Sepetember 1857 - on a voyage from Wisbeach
to Newcastle with wheat. -- when off Flamborough Head
sprung a Leak and was assisted in Bridlington by
four Boatmen belonging to that place who charged £55
for their services - which charge they abated to £65
The Vessel was repaired in Bridlington Harbour --
(leak near the Sternport) and proceeded to Newcastle
without discharging her cargo.
