Mr dear Sir,

My father George Cogswell
was the owner of 1/128th part of the Ship
Commonwealth which was destroyed
by the Florida, and has until now neglected
to make any claim for his loss, although his
name is reported at Washington, I suppose
if the Govt [should?] [review?] [illegible Grt Britain
any owner?? Of [illegible] in this regard - he
will not however have lost any thing
by his delay. I understand that [??]
and others with Mr. Beaman are collecting
many of these claims - he desires to
put his claim into [illegible] & their [illegible]
for collection I imagine that he will not
have to furnish much [illegible] as [illegible] has already been done by the other [illegible] [illegible] of course involves?? his claims. [illegible] [illegible] will send on?? the contract [illegible] desire [illegible] [illegible] we will execute [illegible] return
