Dear Sir,

We have your favor 18 Inst. The result of the labors of the Geneva Tribunal is not by any means what we all expected, still the "Sufferers" will get something to add to their already pretty full purses, & we are glad of it. We have a letter from Mr. Beaman written 4 Inst. advising us that he will remain from six to eight weeks longer in Europe, & we therefore cannot look for him much before the middle of Novem. Meantime it might be well to consider what further is needful to be done here to protect the interests of our clients, & at same to secure our personal interests in the way of commissions which, as you remark, are of some magnitude.

We wish you would consider what character of Bill would meet the case in point & if need be have a Committee consisting of Mr. Tucker & other gentlemen, who are well acquainted with Mr. Fish, to go to Washington & consult him in regard to his wishes in the premises, but as the Official report of the doings of the Arbitrators will probably be make public, within a few weeks
