On motion of Mr. Whitten it was Resolved, That the Children's Home be supplied
with 15 tons of coke free of charge.

[left margin] Salary of Clerk of Councils. [end left margin]
On motion of Mr. Twyman it was unanimously Resolved, That the salary of the
Clerk of the Council be fixed at $40. per month for the ensuing year.
(The Aldermen did not concur in the foregoing resolution. Clerk)

[left margin] E.L. Pugh elected Clerk. [end left margin]
Mr. E. L. Pugh was elected Clerk of the Common Council to succeed E. I. Carruthers
resigned.

[left margin] In re. reconsideration election of City Manager [end left margin]
The following offered by Dr. Forrest, was adopted by a vote of 4 to 2, as follows:
Ayes: Ellington, Forrest, Quarles and Via, Noes; Twyman and Whitten:
Whereas the election of a City Manager is one of the most important duties imposed
upon the City Council, and has always hitherto been gone into only after long
investigation and by unanimous vote, and
Whereas the sudded termination of the services of our present City Maneger without
previous notice, and by the narrowest possible majority, may work injury to both
him and the City, be it
Resolved by the Common Council that the City Council is requested to hold a joint
session at an early date for the purpose of reconsidering its recent notion in
electing a City Manager, and that it then request the present City Manager to
continue in office until January 1, 1921, and that it elect a committee of five that
shall impartially represent all parties and opinions in the joint body, whose duty
it shall be to investigate and make recommendations to the City Council respecting
the employment of a City Manager after January 1, 1921.

A Resolution directing the City Manager to place the old pumping plant on Maury's
Creek in repair, etc., adopted by the Board of Aldermen July 21, 1920, was unanimously
concurred in.

[left margin] In re. uniforms for stationment at fire house. Tax levy. [end left margin]

The following resolution and ordinace were unanimously adopted:

A resolution directing the Mayor and Public Safety Committee to purchase unifirms
for the Station men at the Fire House.

An Ordinance fixing the annual tax levies.

On motion the meeting than adjourned.
