I sent amah down to give them tea at 5 & to my surprise presently daw Davy wandering about alone, [it] wasn't rolling a bit! but down I went to the cabin & there was amah laid low & baby sitting beside her, looking forlorn enough with her cough & running nose! So I put them to bed & was so weary when I went to dinner I couldn't eat so I went to bed at 7.30. Next a.m. we were [fairly] standing on our heads! stayed in bed all day. Davy [much] the better for it. Next day I sent for the doctor & he gave amah hard tablets which she didn't keep down more than an hour So by the 3rd day things were serious. I coughed all night, amah doing her bit night [& doing] specially while we were trying to eat a meal! Finally he gave her an injection of something yesterday & the sea is like a mill pound, still she is so weak from lack of food & poison as the result of no "good girl" that she is still in bed! After several doses & the bed pan provided by the doctor she has at last worked, the 2nd time she got up & went the long way to the bathroom

There hasn't been a minute I haven't had a kid on me! Gosh, Tomorrow night I shall put Hsiao mei mei in amah's bunk & get a sleep - Last night I went down to dinner & there was no place set for me! They must have though I got off somewhere! Today I plopped baby down on amah's bed for an hour while I had a shampoo, so shockingly needed. & bathed & fed & bedded the kids & dressed for dinner

kids aboard are refugees from [Hanking] - no trunks, 1 suitcase for themselves & 3 kids! She says their cook was wonderful really helped to save her husbands life & they want to give him money as a reward. She asked if I knew a Dr. Houghton there as his brother worked there as cook!!! I still do not know if we go straight on or wait over a day in [Vcr]. I should love a day on land, to get a breath! but if the reservations are made, I must take it, I suppose.

The wireless gives no news how we wonder what is happening to you
