DECEMBER 22

Wed 19 Downtown shopping. Crowds. Hugh came in. Sending last cards. Anne put tree up.

Thus 19 5o below zero. Snowing. Played with Mary. D got tree & he & Mary trimmed it. Anne came at night.

Sat 19 Shopped at Bloor & Yonge. Hugh & Donald here. [foc - crossed out] Fred called from Chicago. Cates's called & arrived at 12:30 Talked till 2.

Sun. 19 All here for dinner, Hugh, Joan, Wendy, D. & children. Lovely time. Played with old cars & trucks. Went to church in evening - lovely service.

Mon. 19 Downtown to shop. Had my hair done. Cold. Heaps of cards.

Mary DECEMBER 23 Graham

19 Shopped & baked. Donald came in evening. Red roses from Clarkes. Milder.

Fri 19 12o below zero. Anne, D. Mary & I to get turkey etc. Anne baked cake & I iced it Mary is 2. Her birthday party.

19 Donald's family moved in. Birthday cake for Mary. She is 3. Talked & talked. Lovely time. Warm, rain.

Mon. 19 Mary is 4. I went to Birchcliffe to her party. Lovely time. Many cards & phone calls.

Tues 19 very mild. To Birchcliffe for Mary's 5th birthday party. Saw Mrs. G & Sheila's family. Anne, Ian & Mrs. Dagg came at night. Shopped with D.

DECEMBER 24

Fri 19 made mince pie. Anne got red roses from Ted. Shopped. Wendy, Mary & Donald came to stay for weekend. Hugh came over. Played with Mary

19 Milder. A & D took Mary out on toboggan. I made date balls, Wendy mince pie. Played Beethoven's Ninth Symphony & jazz record.

Mon. 19 Brucie & I to Dominion store. Mild & wet. Luella came in, also Rosie Duff & Fred & Dell Kemp. Talked & talked.

Tues 19 very mild. To Dominion Store. Wrote letters, reading Trevelyan - "Social Hist. Eng." Anne & Ian came at night. Talked & talked.

Wed. 19 Shopped. Donald et al moved in here. Trimmed tree, talked, played games. Colder.

DECEMBER 25

19 Lovely day. Joan & Hugh came. Lovely gifts - 7 for dinner - lighted tree, played records, Mary opened her toys, all very nice indeed.

19 Lovely day - beautiful gifts - Mary's doll carriage. Pkgs from Mary & Hugh. Big turkey dinner. Played records

Tues. 19 Lovely day. Mountains of gifts - toys & books. Girls & I cooked turkey dinner. D. & Hugh played with children on floor.

Wed. 19 A very happy day. Gifts in my room. We cooked turkey dinner. Played on floor & in theatre. Williamsons & Kings came. Ian went back to Ottawa.

Thu. 19 Lovely day. Tree & gifts in my room. Cooked our turkey. Gave play in theatre. Played records, talked, played games.

DECEMBER 26

Sun. 19 Kept Mary all morning. Creightons here for tea. Mary so happy & delightful. W.D. & Anne to Hugh's.

Mon. 19 Milder. A & I packed. Bathed John. A & I left at 1:25. Train very late & slow. Dinner at Murray's. Lovely azaleas here.

Wed. 19 Relaxed pleasant day. Lovely azalea & cyclamen Played with blocks & read to children. Delicious meals.

Thu. 19 Donald, Joan & Hugh came. Ate cold turkey, played records, talked. They wrote play. Mild & wet.

Fri. 19 Played records, went to Campus Groceteria. Played with railway & games. Anne, Ian & Mrs. Dagg to see friends. Played drawing game.
