[p.21] JANUARY 16 19 Girls & I to church. Heard part of symphony. H. & I to tea at McDougalls, Alex Brady here in evening. 19 Dr. came. Anne has scarlet fever, very sick. Nursed her. Hugh to Loblaw's. 19 Had my hair done. Snowing hard. M.J.'s book chosen April Book of month. Typed & sewed. 19 To Y W Board meeting, Lunch there. Plans with Jo perfect. H. & Anne out for dinner. Colder. 19 Downtown shopping. Got watch cord, shirts, etc Heard pop concert on radio.

[p.22] JANUARY 17 Mon. 19 Washed. Steaming Hugh. Sewed & cleaned up. Doris I unclear to hear "Messiah at Deer Pk. church. wonderful. + Wed. 19 Took care of Anne. Children home from school, flooding rink. 19 Met E. Welsford for lunch & shopped. Letter from Fred. Fri 19 Shopped & had my hair done. Cold & windy. Mary out. Sat 19 Baked date bread & cookies Poured at Doris's geaography shower. Pres. Trueman here for dinner & evening.

[p.23] JANUARY 18 Tues. 19 Went to Loblaws. & downtown shopping. Anne flooded rink. Reading Morley's Rousseau 19 Inspector came & Dr. Sharpe. very hectic day. Placard put on house. 19 Shopped at villahe Baked cookies. A's guides "Court of Honour" met here. 19 Baked & shopped. Heard part of Mozart's " Abduction from Seraglio." 19 To church. Tea for Dales's, Hood, Ashley etc. Very cold.

[p.24] JANUARY 19 19 Went to library & to tea for Mrs. Hodgetts at Mrs. Dymonds. wet & mild. 19 All at home. Anne to Isolation in Ambulance. Scrubbed room with lysol. Inspector here again. Sat. 19 Baked. A's birthday party. 7 girls, Hugh & I got their supper. Heard "MMe. Butterfly" on radio. Sun 19 To Church, cold. Heard symphony. Knitted. 19 Washed. Convened Publ. com. at Y.W. Mrs. Rapsey drove me down.

[p.25] JANUARY 20 19 To lunch with Peggy Broun. her baby 3 wks. old. To dinner at Mulock House with Miss Ferguson & spoke to girls on short story. Sat. 19 Baked pie. Washed all a's bedding etc. Boys flooding rink. Hugh draws comics for Anne. 19 Mary came home. Very cold. Creightons & Alex Brady came in. 19 Washed. Chaired Publ. Com. meeting. Long agenda. Raining hard. 19 Budget session at Y.W. all day. very tiring. Shopped on way home.
