Sun. 1939 Mary, Anne & I went to church. Blizzard & very cold. Tea here, Dawsons, McDougalls & McPhersons, Alec etc.
19 Shopped & called on Mrs. Helleiner. Cold. Children skating.
19 Hugh at home with cold. Kept him & Anne apart. Raining. Harold out. Hugh & I made fruit candy.
19 Went to Y.W.C.A. in morning & to Red Cross. Typed in afternoon.
19 Mary & I went downtown I went to reception at Oxford Press for Portia White Very nice. Snow & very cold.

Mon. 19 Margaret Fairley & I went to City Council meeting. had tea & shopped. Very cold.
Tues. 19 Went to call on Mrs. Clark. Milder. Planned Anne's party.
19 Went out on an errand. Played with children. Anne made valentine's & Hugh made an airplane.
19 Luella & I went thru new house & studied it. Anne's birthday party, 9 girls here. Hugh & I took some home. Harold out.
19 Sat. Shopped with Hugh & Anne & toboggan. Very cold. Anne's party - 9 girls. High time.

19 Took Hugh to oculist and came home with Harold. Letter from Dad from Liverpool.
Wed. 19 Mended & sewed. Milder. some snow.
19 Went down shopping & got fur coat. Very cold. Went to Red Cross for wool. Harold out.
19 Shopped & went with Donald to Dr. MacMillan H. home for tea. Finished "Red & Black."
19 Mary in bed with cold. Heard symphony. Read. D. out. A. at S.S. Cold.

Wed 1939 Anne - 6. Her presents at breakfast. Made oyster stew. 10o below 0. Played new records.
Thu. 19 Anne 7 - Her presents. I went to U.A.W.C. & in evening to lecture on nutrition with Mrs. Werry.
19 Anne's birthday gifts. Played bingo. Went to hairdresser. Ice cream & cake & games. Cold & icy.
[9?] 19 Sunday A's gifts. Girls & I to church. H. & I to tea at Gibb's. Mild & wet. Heard Benny etc.
19 Mon. Mary in bed. Milder. Washed. A's gifts. Played croquinole, tried on her new dress.

JANUARY 26
19 Anne's party - Bobby Lee, Basil Jackson etc. 7 in all. Mrs. Lee, Jackson & I had tea. I went to dinner at Prof. Alexander's to meet F.P Grove & his wife.
19 Anne's party - 4 boys & 4 girls. Played games. Very cold. Harold out. Anne very happy.
19 Girls & I to church. Mr. McLeod here for tea. H.& I to Chants for supper. Duffs there. Cold. Wore my new fur coat first time.
19 Went to bank & met Harold, we went to Fred's & paid for new house. Got check from Ed.
19 H. came back from N.Y. Cold. Mended & sewed.
