JANUARY 2

19 Mary & I went to vote. Luella & Don came for tea. Played Wagner records.

1940 children skating. Harold out in evening. Cold. Knitted & read.

Thurs 19 Mary, Hugh, Anne & I to museum to see film of pygmies. very fine. Snowing D. & I played chess.

19 Hugh & I to Yonge St.. blizzard. Brady & Creightons came in evening. Harold up first time.

19 Hugh & I went shopping cleaned. Practiced piano. Mary & I heard "Lohengrin on radio.

JANUARY 3

19 Very cold. Played with Donald & Anne. Went to F. H. Browns - music - Holt Gurney there - very nice time.

Wed. 19 children started to school. Worked on notes all day. Harold home for dinner.

1941 Took down tree, Cards etc. Anne & I to tea at Mrs. Barnes'. Sunny & fine. Reading "Huckleberry Finn"

Sat. 19 Went to bank. Donald & Mary at party at Dow's, Harold up part of the day. Typed on novel.

19 Sun. Mary & I to church, Heard Symphony. Snowing hard. Mary & I to church in evening.

JANUARY 4

Wed. 19 Very cold. Wrote letters & typed. Fred and Dell Kemp came in evening. Tired

Thur 19 Mildred away. I did work. Went to bank & got my hair cut. Mary at Denise's party.

19 Hugh coughing. Shopped on Yonge. St. H. came home for lunch. D & Alan playing chess.

19 Sun. Anne & I to church cold. children played table tennis.

19 Washed. cold & snowing hard. Met children, got Anne shoes, library, errands etc.

JANUARY 5

Thurs. 1939 Went down shopping. Mrs. McIlwraith came for tea. children better. Melting & rain.

19 Cold. Worked on book all day. Knitted white parka for Mary.

Sun. 19 girls & I to church. cold. All Kenyons & Kemps here for tea. A good time. Heard Jack Binny.

19 Shopped, to dentist & to Press Club for lunch. Took Hugh to Dr. McD.

19 Tues. Mary & I went shopping, got her shoes etc. Terrible crowds. H. home for tea.

JANUARY 6

19 Went to see Mrs. Westcott in Western hosp. & called on Mrs. Aitchison. very wet.

19 children all skating. Darned & sewed. Went out to mail letters. Reading "Tess"

19 Hugh home with cough. Sewed & mended. Went to library. Anne's report card all A's. cold.

19 Went to see a house with A. Hazlett. Very cold, Harold came home for tea. Anne skating.

19 Went to Luella's in afternoon. Practiced piano. Read "Thorn-Apple Tree." Blackout at 10.
