Nedonchel Fine, inspection of unit this am. Preparing for inspection by G.O.C. To Bethune this P.M. [with] Maj. Blair. Dinner there. Met Capt. Spencer. Corps Cavalry.

Nedonchel. Thawing & very wet underfoot. Bill & myself to No. 5. Fed. Amb. for dinner. Geo. Cameron there also. Home at 12.30.

Nedonchel. Down for G.O.C. inspect [got?] cancelled [because?] snow storm. Very cold.

Nedonchel. Cold [unclear] mild about 5 p.m. Inspection by Gen. Birstall accompanied by Gen Rennie. Tea with Gen. Rennie & 4th Bde. Hgrs. Acting Lt. [Col. is?] in gazette today. Dating 16-12-17.

Nedonchel. Thawing & roads slippery. To 19th Bn. Maj. Hatch & myself to AIRE & on to St. Ours. Lunch Hotel du Commerce. Back at 5 p.m. Called at A.D.M.S. Maj. Lomer still carrying on.
