for Albujera , which is about 4 leagues from Olivenca 
17th we occupied some small heights, with our left on the village & our right near the mountains  The enemy were in an opposite wood  The Marshal had sent for our Brigade in a great hurry, expecting the Army would be again attacked on the 17th  as altho’ we had driven them from the field of action with great loss, they were still in great force  the field of action was a horrid scene  there were 3,000 Frenchmen lay on the field  the most unfortunate circumstance that happened to us in the action was that they made above 600 prisoners & a great many Officers  on the 18th they made
18th off in the night, leaving near 600 wounded in the wood, which they could find no means of conveying away  a number of our men & Officers made their escape  we moved from the field to Solana
23rd & from thence to Aranchal, where we arrived on
