My dear Fan. There is very little news but thought that I could drop you a line to tell you that I am getting on fine. I intended to write you on my birthday but wrote father and then it was too late to write you. It was not that I wasn't thinking of you all thought
I went down to a very decent little town near here. I wanted to get a couple of little things but could not. However I bought some cigarettes. I don't smoke very much but some how or other a fellow gets in the habit out here.

R. I had a real decent meal down there though. Plenty of fresh vegetables and tomatoes. I can buy tomatoes around here sometimes and they certainly are a treat. Still make Sandwiches with them and they are O.K.
Tell Aut that that maple cream didn't make me sick. When I got it though I said to myself "here's for a sickener" but I wasn't a bit.
There is a Canadian mail in and am expecting some letters but they have not come down from my battalion yet. They will no doubt in a couple of days. There also should be a letter from Reg and
