Bramshott Camp. Sunday Evening 9th April 1918

My dear Fran. -

Have certainly been happy today. Received quite a few letters from home. From Mother, Sus, Helen, Jim and Aut and you. I certainly was glad to get them. Also received four Saturday Nights and a London Free Press. I certainly have had some reading to-day.

We had a church parade this morning and that is all they bothered us for to-day. Generally they have something or other to do.

There was a party of men went up to Longmoor Ranges yesterday to shoot so a couple of we instructors had to go up with them. It is no little walk up there. About seven or eight miles and then commence shooting as soon as they get there. The wind was pretty raw and cold. Coming back we took a shortcut through a big cedar forest. They have a

large Canadian saw-mill and lumber yard there. You see they need the lumber so they have the Canadians running saw-mills all over the country. Believe me the Canucks are not only fighting but are doing a great deal of good with their forestry corps and construction battalions. Kind of makes the ancient ways of doing things look like two cents over here.

Mrs Pankhurst spoke in the Garrison theatre this afternoon and the fellows said she was a very good speaker. I believe she could do a good deal of good speaking like that.

They are having a great time in France these days. They expect a big German offensive so are preparing for it. Hope he does start and he will get what is coming to him. Reg tells me he is very busy.

Well Fran must close and make my bed before lights out. Thanks very much for the letters and papers. Certainly enjoy them. Best love to Frank and yourself and all in T. Will be writing Stan and Aut. Your loving Bro, Ted.
