My dear Fan:- I received your letter dated Sept 6th along with a couple from home and believe me I was glad to get them. I had not received any mail from you or Auntie for some little time. I received a letter from Stan and suppose that I will get a letter from Aut on the next mail. You said that Aut was sending me a parcel; nothing more welcome. It is pretty hard to get enough to eat around here. You certainly have been having a fine time all summer with your visits etc. and you can certainly get

around now that you have the car.
I wrote mother a letter yesterday and told her all about my late doings get her to send it to read and then I will not have to tell you everything as I have not much time around here. We have been walking all over France it seems to me lately. It is certainly fine country and looks quite peaceful.
We are here for a few days and then another sixty mile march so they say, but I don't think that we will walk. I hope not anyway. They certainly have been working us lately.
I was glad that Jim got to Toronto for a holiday as it sometimes gets tiresome at home. You want to keep an eye on

him and keep him where he is. For mercy sake don't let him enlist. How is mother keeping? You want to bring her to Toronto or she will be getting sick again, because she worries a lot. Don't let her worry about Reg and I as we will get along all right. I had a letter from him and expect another soon.
Well Fan take good care of yourself and tell Aut and Stan that I will write them soon. Best love to them all and Frank.
