January 24th, 1916. Mr. G. Watson French, Davenport, Iowa. Dear Sir:- I have been busy for the past two months acknowledging letters in connection with the Hillstrom case, concerning which you wired me from Green River, wyoming, on November 19th. This letter is an expression of my thanks for your kind telegram. In handling this matter, I did only what I regarded as my plain and simple duty and it is a source of much satisfaction to know that you approve of my action on the Hillstrom case. Cordially yours, Governor.

To The Hon. Governor Spry, Salt Lake City, Utah. Sir:-- With pleasure I read to-day's Associated Press dispatches quoting you as determined to rid the State of Utah from the lawless element of the I.W.W. that you were going to see that the proper peace officers would start at once to stop inflammatory street speeches, and drive out of the State all law-breakers, and those who defy law and order, and in the event of failure in the part of City or County Officials, you would do it yourself. As a patriotic citizen, I heartily endorse your stand, and if you see fit, you can place Brother Frazier on the firing squad, pledged to this program. With great respect, I remain, Sincerely yours, R.T. Frazier

Gov. William Spry, City. Dear Governor, I wish to take this means of expressing my admiration for you, in the stand you have taken in the Hillstrom case. Few men can withstand pressure as you have in cases of this sort, and I can fully appreciate the feeling which you have had in the case. I think your letter to the President of the U.S. was a very logical and timely document. I think the people of the State of Utah should be proud of you, for the stand you have taken on this case. I beg to remain Yours respectfully, C. A. Faus
