Dear Mrs. Pyle I arrived safely, but when I was about to say "How do you do" to Mrs. Conklin, I was horrified to discover that I could hardly speak aloud. I put so much mentholatum all over my face, neck and chest that I nearly froze before I went to sleep. But morning found me with my voice intact for which I was duly grateful. So my cold is not any worse although unimproved of. I have struggled with mentholatum and glycothymoline all day for I didn't want the women to be afraid of me.
Now to business. We had a meeting this afternoon and have planned work for Mon, Tues and Wed.

I was disappointed to learn that Mrs. Lees had already canvassed the businessmen of the town - asked them for a dollar apiece. Isn't that disheartening. Ill just have to approach some of them again for big sums. We thot best, however to go to the towns surrounding Brookings first, get the women to work there and do Brookings itself later. I should hate to have Mrs. Lees feel that her work was not appreciated for she is a most conscientious worker.
Mrs. Perisho is out of town until Jan 1st. The schools, theaters, and churches are all closed - boys at college quarentined and public gatherings prohibited. The two wealthiest men of the town are antis.
Well, if influenza does not prevent we will go to White monday Elkton, and Bruce, Tuesday and Wednesday. Different women will offer the use of their cars.

Money enough for printing and circularization has already been obtained. In fact the printer is already at work. (has done 700) Arrangements have been made for copying polling list (about 3000 named directly unto the envelopes).
And Mrs. Conklin says there are about 1300 names on the petitions they are not all in but she has arranged for that number with the printer. It will cost about $58.00. By the way, Mrs. Pyle, will you please send the Elkton names to Mrs. Conklin - there were 15 I believe, in the desk. So all of this has been attended to and we need not worry about it.
I'm sorry the financial end has been conducted on such a small scale. I think now- we must give
