Mr. C. M. Runyan,
Vermillion, S. D.
My dear Mr. Runyan:—
I am in receipt of your letter, which
is in answer to Mrs. Hipple's request for your expression on
Amendment E.
I am writing to thank you for your
statement and also for your interest in this cause and to
assure you that it is, indeed, a great help to know that we
may have your assistance.
Of course, every one who is interested
in Amendment E can do much for it, by talking with their
friends, as they come in contact with them. It seems to me
that this Amendment must carry this fall and yet there is
much prejudice to be removed. It is certainly a great mis-
take for the friends of true Americanizm to believe that this
will carry easily. We find that there are people who say
they will vote against the amendment because they do not be-
lieve in woman suffrage and then there are other who say they
will vote against it, because they feel it is not just to the
alien. For these reasons, we must conduct our campaign of
education, as vigorously as possible until election day.
Very sincerely yours,
