August 13th, 1918.

Mrs. P. P. Bruce,
Vivian, So. Dak.

My dear Mrs. Bruce:--

I was very glad indeed to get your
good letter of August 8th and I am writing to thank you for
it and tell you how much your generous offer to entertain,
or to do what you could to help any of our workers, was
appreciated. I read your letter to Mrs. McMahon, our
Chairman of Organization, and she also appreciated the kind-
ly spirit.

I can not say just when any of our
workers may be in Vivian, but Mrs. Rene E. H. Stevens is the
organizer in charge of the Black Hills and your district and
she might be glad to have you assist her, if she should again
go through that county. She is now at Midland, looking after
the interests of our organization during the joint picnic of
Haakon, Jackson and Stanley counties. She will probably be
at Cottonwood later. She has been along the Milwaukee line
through Lyman County, but stopped only at Oacoma and Kenne-
bec but, no doubt, will find it within her plans, some time
before election day, to stop in Vivian.

I have a sample sheet of the plate
matter which came to our office to-day and which is the first
shipment of which I wrote the editors. I am in hopes it will
be generally used.

I am wondering if you know that my son
has now left Fort Sheridan, Illinois, and has gone to Custer
Camp, at Battle Creek. He is not a captain. Florence and
the baby have been with him at Fort Sheridan, since the latter
part of March, and have now moved with him to Camp Custer.

Very sincerely yours,
