[[Mr. Powel]] had a harder fate of it -
They gave him his Powder again, because
it made no Advantage to them, & valued
his what they took from him at 25 Sequins -
w'ch [which] they insisted upon his paying, for confiscating
the several other Articles w'ch [which] they had
siezed - We supposed it to be a
private Compact was made amongst
themselves, & that if they could squeeze
that Sum from him, was the supposed Cost

lower price in the Custom House Books
or only acct. [account] for the Duty ordinary Duty
& keep the rest - [[Mr. P]] He agreed at length
for 12 Sequins, & was charged another
Sequin for a Billet of Dismission, w'ch [which] he
paid in Louis d'Ors - & w'ch [which] they took care
not to allow him the Value they paid
for only counting a Louis d'Or equal to two
Sequins, & thus cheated him out of ab't [about] four
Pauls more in every Louis d'Or -
We privately determin'd [determined] to Seek
redress, on this acc't [account] we made no more
words - but cross'd [crossed] the Several Branches
of the River Tickino [[Ticino]] & got s ab't [about] Night
