Adventure of [[Buffalora]]
& The two Sketches of Portraits being
in Claro Obscuro & very small, I told
them one was my own Portrait - the
other of a young Lady pass'd with the
Man for my Sisters, but to the young
Nymph to whom I principally appealed
^ addressed myself as having most sensibility
& whom I thought I could percieve had
espous'd [espoused] my Case, and spoke some
words before in my fav'r favor to the Jud
Superior whose who ^ words seem`d to be
whatever she said seeming to
have gui full weight with him, whatev`r
She said being harken`d to suggested it
might hi that it was the Portrait of
my Wife or Sweet-Heart - & being only a
Sketch not a finished painting might be
dispensed with - Upon w'ch [which] all
my things were restored on Condition I
would give the Man who examin'd my
Trunk Something for his Trouble, w'ch [which] I
comply'd [complied] with without hesitation, & made
my Bows to the young Nymph for
her appearance at the Tribunal -
