Many People leave their faces bare,
yet are never named or seem to be known
by others _ The [[Place of St. [Saint] Marks]] is
the great Place of Resort_ & Masks ill
dressed & ragged with Salt-herrons & leaks
& onions for frogs & Buttons are suffered
to mix with the richest & genteelest masks,
w/ch [which] cannot but be very disagreeable _

The People of [[Venice]] seem to delight
in Magnificence & sumptuous appearance,
& to be much delighted with & given to
intrigues, both Men & Women _

Monday Augst [August] 5th _ Set out from [[Venice]]
abt. [about] 7 OClock in the morning, arrivd at [[Padua]]
abt. [about] 4 OClock in the afternoon _ after dining
w waited on [[Morgagni]] with [[Mr. [Mister] Powel]] _
& was entertained very politely & agreeably _
Expence of Boat & Coach hither abt. [about] a Zequin & a half

Tuesday. Augst: [August] 6. Left [[Padua]] after
dinner & arrived after night at [[Vicenza]]
abt. [about] 20 Miles distant from [[Padua]] _ agreed
with [[Viturino]] from [[Padua]] to [[Parma]] 110 Miles for
6 Zequins & a half
