[[Venice]]

The Paintings of Old Masters are for
the most part greatly damaged by the Air
from the Sea Water; & therefore do not look
equal to the Paintings of the same Masters in
other parts of Italy _

Amongst a great Number of Paintings
in different Churches & Convents, those w/ch [which] I
saw in good order most worthy of remark
are _ All manner of living Creatures going into
the Ark, two & two by [[Iacomo Bassan]] _ our
Saviour at a Feast _ by [[Paul Veronese]] _
A most exquisite Crucifixion _ by Do [Ditto] _
The Creation of Woman _
or rather Paradise _
} by [[Titian]] _

There are in Venice a very great Number
of good Paintings by [[Titian]], [[Paul Veronese]], [[Tintorel]]
[[Parmegianino]] & others, but the four abovementiond
appd. [appeared] to me to be
but the amongst the most capital, & least spoild
of what I saw.

There are no Entertainments at Venice now
They begin with Masquerades in Octobr. [October] or Novr_ [November] w/ch [which]
last 3/4 of the Year _ Carnival is the high Season of
Diversion _ [illegible] The Masques much chang'd from
what they were formerly _
