The Court Yard of it is Small, but the Architecture
of the Piazza & the Beautfy of its appearance
exceeds any other & have Seen, in as w

The public Hospital does not at present
contain 200 persons Men & Women; as it is
somewhat larger, so it is not altogether so neat
as the little one w'ch [which] I saw at [[Bologna]] - yet
the sick seem clean eno' [enough] & not to want
proper attendance -

The River w'ch [which] was on the outside of the
walls of ye [the] old Town now runs through the City on acc't [account] of
its greater extent than formerly - If I
but is walled in & fortified with ramparts - If I
mistake not it has [either] Seven Ports, each
a Mile apart - The Bridges on ye [the] River
are numerous & the Town is crowded with
houses - There are 3 small Squares or
open places - the principal is the Piazza
di Signori [[Piazza dei Signori]] - the oth'r [other] two the Piazza
de herbe [[Piazza delle Erbe]] & the [[Piazza di Palea]], in the
last of w'ch [which] was our Inn - the golden Star,
not good, though esteemed one of the best
in Town -
