Standing Orders for the Garrison of Fort St George
Art1. The signal of alarm being made on the Fort, by the firing of two guns from the Nabobs Bastion, all the Troops to assemble on their respective Parades without loss of time & there to remain till further orders from the Governor. --2d. All Officers Guards to turn out to the Governor as often as he passes with rested arms beat a march & salute, all other Guards with rested arms only. The same to a Lt. General & Vice Admiral Commanding in Chief. To a Lieut. General not commanding, rested ams & three ruffles only Officers to salute - - -

3rd. All officers guards to turn out to the Commander in Chief (when Major General, as often as he passes with rested arms & beat three ruffles; The Officers to salute; the other Guards as often as he passes. The same to a Rear Admiral Commanding his Majesty's Ships in India. The same compliments to a Commodore of his Majesty's Navy having Captains under them - - 4th To a Brigadier General Comm'g the main Guard to turn out, with rested Arms, beat two ruffles. Officers not to salute. 5th To a Brigadier General not Commanding. The Officers not to salute. Gaurd with rested arms & one ruffle - - 6th To a Colonel commanding the same as to a Brigadier General not commanding -
