[double line]

[cross symbol] Whilst it is for others this day to tread the Ground of Philosophy and Literature, let it be for me to follow the Freeman from his native Country to the Asylum of America; let me trace the Interdiction of Conscience, as the motive for taking up his dwelling in the Wilds of the Western Indian; let me trace the [Pharoahick?] Tyranny, which troubled at his emancipation, pursued him with the Vengeance of Gall; let me relate how the Mosaick hand of a Washignton divided the Waters of War and Desolation, how we passed over, and were safely landed

[cross symbol] This Oration was intended to be delivered by F. Smith at his Commencement, in the UniVersity of Pennsylvania. It was composed by Mr. Jacob Wagner, [jun.]
