Orient Tour [Anta?] and State Dept. Sept. 23rd 11:20 AM Arrived in Seoul. Warm welcome at airport with many acquaintances from before and the new Mayor. Tiny Korean girls brot boguets. The American Embassy was also represented and whisked us thru customs and on to the Bando Hotel which was not in operation four years ago on our first visit there. It had at one time been occupied by the Army and was renovated to the tune of two million dollars.

In my quarters, I had an opportunity to read the typed sheet re activities for the afternoon and next day.

It speaks for itself. However the invitation of President and Mrs Syngman Rhee to have tea with them at their palace was one of the highlights of the stay in Seoul, the other being the bestowing of an honorary degree of Dr of Music from Ewha University, Dr Helen [Rim?] president

[Sept] 25th We left Seoul for Pusan at 1 P.M.

Sept 25th 2:30 PM Arrived Pusan, Mr S with us.

Another warm welcome and more flowers. Mar Me Lean of American Embassy met us, together with some musicians, the governor and other V.I.Ps.

Shortly before 5 there was a press reception, at 5 a tea party with about 45 to 50 guests and music was furnished by a childrens choir, all small ones and they are very good. Immediately following this we had dinner at the Me Leans' and an excellent dinner it was. We returned "home" about 10 and slowly to bed. It was quite chilly and I was quite glad that I brot my sleeping bag.
