[Monday, January 1, 1951] Up at 8:45 prepared breakfast for Freibe, Monica and me. We cleaned up the kitchen and I helped Monica with her bed then I made up ours. Just as everything was in order for my study, Monica returned soaking wet. from waist down, having fallen into the pool where the ice gave way. I g had her take a hot bath an alcohol rub, go to bed and have an aspirin and I talked with Dr Mandl he said I did right. After washing her clothes, it was time to get dinner. Mar garet asked to have the rest of the day off. She made filling for turkey. The Owens were here to dinner. Monica is alright. T.V. Called Edna Welch Sophia and Emily there. Call from Joe. [Tuesday 2 January 1951]
We at 8:45 breakfast at 10+ put away presents, studied Freibe took Monica to movie I had a short walk. Dinner at 6:30 T.V. and later to guest house to make light for Mrs Ellis Back home for "Suspense," call from Franz S. Freibe brot home my necklace.
Retired at 12:30
Received check in sum of 1000.00 from made out to Mr Hurok + dorsed by him, (as part payment of fee he contracted for for my services [hon.] 1949. Expenditures

[Wednesday 3 January 1951]
Up at 8:15 breakfast 9:15 (goodbye to Monica) I took the 10:12 to New York and on arrival went directly to Hurok office and made tapes recording with Jim Falkenberg at noon for N.A.A.C.P. and at 1:15 a luncheon with Mrs + Mr Brouson the latter wanted an interview) and Martin Feinstein. Went to Rupps at 3:15 worked with Steffi until 4 had tea worked with Franz until after six had dinner there and left for 448 arriving at 9. Bot paper, retired at 10:45 Rec'd signed contract from Mae. letter Michael re tapes

448 New York Up at 8:30 call from Friebe went to Mrs Rosin at 10:30, to Franz at noon. breakfast .90 lunch 1.50 subway .10 cab .65 then from Fran .10 to Grand Central, called Mae .05 newsreel .40 sub + busfare 22 paper .05 tips .70
Left for 13 rewsters on 4:02 home for dinner and went to Dr Mandl at 8 P.M. had a cardiagram made. Back home we stayed up until 11 + service from Brewster 1.50
