The [1st?] may again be divided
into 3 Kinds , , Clear & Transparent,
which being laid upon coloured Subjects
makes no Alteration in them, being
the Appearance of Glass only
The 2d changes the Colour of
the Subject : + gives to Silver the Colour
of Golds + makes Gold shine like
Brilliants—
The 3d, + All Kind is used to
mix with Colours to make them more
transparent, + proper to be laid on
The oleaginous Varnishes which
require Time to dry may be divided
in the same Manner; though they are
generally mixed with Colours; but
they may however be made dry:
:ing Varnishes —
The Gum Copal & ^yellow Amber
called Iuesinum are particularly used for
the best Work & the Solutions of them
