Monday May 25
Clear & pleasant -- Rose at 6 -- My little Goodie better -- Left on 7:10 train for Va -- Arrived at 10 -- Went to work at usual -- Evening through at 2 -- Bed at 3:30
Tuesday May 26
The same -- Slept till 11:30 -- Got letter from wife, enclosing pass, & stating that Goodie was worse & she had to call in Dr Dawson -- He says she has bilious intermittent fever, which, if not broke will run 3 weeks -- I replied to her letter by evening mail -- Through in office at 2 -- Bed at 2:30 --
Wednesday May 27
Clear & pleasant -- Met Lew Stevenson on C street this noon, arrived from Leadville where he has been for the last 3 or 4 yrs, mining, etc -- I think he is glad to get back, and feels like the prodigal son of his father CC Stevenson of Gold Hill -- Reported 4th of July meeting this evening & through in office at 2 -- Bed at 3 --
Thursday May 28
The same -- Warmer -- AM about town -- At 1 pm, an open buggy & horses awaited me at the Enterprise office, and my old friend & pard, Dan B Sohl was the driver, to take me to Gold Hill, to inspect a new refrigerator room at C J Waider's meat
