E & I drove to Miss R's. Miss
Rice is there again to my in-
tense relief. Miss R. no worse
_ perhaps. Will spent the day
her & we sat on the porch all
afternoon, up stairs piazza I
mean he, Ellen & I talking &
sewing. He is tonight fraterni-
zing with Mr. Fairfield. I have a pet lizard.
Miss Rice reported Miss R.
much worse this morning. So
I took Ellen on to the church &
left her & went home to sleep
So as to sit up all night with
Miss R. Mrs. Wells & her baby
were at Ruggles & Miss R. was
rather too much excited seeing
them. She talked naturally &
said the baby was an ugly little
thing, but she much worse.
She cannot be persuaded to take
