cool way of appropriating any
thing she wants that is nicer
than common - anything? She
appropriates everything nearby.
I should not mind that much
if it were only our things. Your
things I mean those sent for the
comfort of all the ladies. But
she has taken the negroes things with
out demur. and when she can
not just take - she gives them
clothes sent down by the associa
tions, by way of payment for
her own comforts. She told me ne
ver to pay the servants, nothing
- that they would be paid by recei
ving clothing & food from the stores
sent down. This I tried to reconcile
myself to, but could not. So I asked
Mr. Pierce who says we have no right
