My Dear Wife,
Your letter of the 13th
was handed to me at Trenton on Wednesday by
Mr. Attmore who did me the favour to bring it o-
ver from Newbern, and right glad was I to re-
ceive it not withstanding the severe and as I think,
[ ] a cold which is contained. I did write
you by the very first opportunity which offered
after searching the place of my destination,
and surely I am not to be blamed because
the mail facilities of the country are no great
er but as I [ ] I was right glad to receive
the letter, as I was anxious to hear how you
all made out to get through with the wed-
ding- I am pleased to learn that it [ ] off
so pleasantly- I suppose we may expect to
have another in the family shortly since
Richard has become such a gallant [ }
[ ] that if he [ ] so great an achieve-
ment, not to be in to great a hurry about it as
I should like to be at his wedding myself
In my first letter which I presume you
received several days ago, I gave you a hasty
sketch of my trip down and of my ha-
ving disposed of the business of the first court
on the circuit -since then I have dispatched
