Section 3. In the event that a motor vehicle is not owned or operated in
or around Chapel Hill by a student at the time prescribed in the preceding
section for the registration of motor vehicles, but is thereafter acquired
and is thereafter owned or operated in or around Chapel Hill by a student,
such motor vehicle shall be registered as herein provided within forty-
eight (48) hours after its acquisition.

Section 4. Upon application by the student owner or operator of a motor
vehicle and upon the payment of a motor vehicle registration fee, the amount
of which shall be determined by the Chancellor, the administrative officer
registering the vehicle shall issue a serially numbered automobile registra-
tion sticker indicating that the holder thereof is a student enrolled in the
University and the academic year for which the sticker is effective.

Section 5. The automobile registration sticker shall be properly affixed
to and displayed on the motor vehicle for which it is issued within twenty-
four (24) hours from the time of the issuance thereof. The location of a
properly displayed registration sticker shall be determined by the Chancellor.

Section 6. The student to whom the automobile registration sticker is
issued as herein provided shall be responsible for all parking violations of
the vehicle for which the parking permit is issued.

Section 7. The University Business Manager shall be responsible for
the enforcement of the provisions of this article.

ARTICLE III. STAFF PARKING PERMITS

Section 1. Every permanent staff member of the University who owns
and/or operates one or more motor vehicles may register no more than
two such vehicles for use on the University Campus. Such vehicles must
be registered with the administrative officer of the University designated
by the Chancellor. At no time will both vehicles be parked upon the University
campus.

Section 2. Registration of such motor vehicles shall be accomplished
at the beginning of the fall semester of each year, or when any person first
becomes a staff member of the University and at the beginning of the fall
semester of each year thereafter.

Section 3. In the event that a motor vehicle is not owned or operated on
the campus of the University by a staff member at the time prescribed in
the preceding section for the registration of motor vehicles, but a motor
vehicle is thereafter acquired and is thereafter owned or operated on the
campus of the University by a staff member, such motor vehicle shall be
registered within forty-eight (48) hours after its acquisition.

Section 4. Upon application by the staff member owner or operator of
one or more motor vehicles, the administrative officer designated by the
Chancellor shall issue a serially numbered staff parking permit for each
vehicle to be registered indicating that the holder thereof is a staff member
of the University and indicating the academic year for which the staff park-
ing permit is effective. When authorized and directed by the Chancellor,
the staff parking permit so issued shall also contain appropriate letter
designations indicating the class of which the holder of the staff parking
permit is a member for purposes of parking in certain designated parking
spaces, parking lots, or parking areas on the campus of the University.

Section 5. The staff parking permit shall be properly affixed to and
displayed on the motor vehicle for which it is issued within forty-eight (48)
hours from the time of the issuance thereof.

Section 6. The staff member to whom a staff parking permit is issued
as herein provided shall be responsible for all parking violations of the
vehicle for which the staff parking permit is issued.
