The Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of North Carolina met in regular session in the Governor's office, State Capitol Building, Raleigh, North Carolina, at 10:30 o'clock a. m., Eastern Standard Time, on Friday, May 8, 1964. Due notice of the meeting was given to all members of the Executive Committee by the Secretary. The following members were present: Mrs. Burgwyn, Mrs. Lathrop, Messrs. Bryant, Mintz, Noble, Wicker, Maynard, Umstead, Hill, Taylor and Barber; Arch T. Allen, Secretary.

Absent: Mr. Thomas J. Pearsall.

Also present were: President Friday, Vice Presidents Anderson, King and Weaver, Business Officer and Treasurer Shepard, Chancellors Aycock, Caldwell and Singletary.

In the absence of Governor Sanford, Mr. Taylor was elected to preside.

President Friday was recognized and he called on the Chancellors for their reports in the following order:

Enno Kraehe, as Professor of History with salary of $13,500 beginning August 1, 1964. Born St. Louis, Missouri 1921. Married. Two children. Education: B.A. 1943 and M. A. 1944 University of Missouri; Ph.D. 1948 University of Minnesota. Experience: Instructor 1946-48 University of Delaware; Assistant/Associate Professor and Professor 1948-64 University of Kentucky. He has been Visiting Professor at Universities oi Missouri, Virginia, Texas and Minnesota. Interviewed by: Dean of the Faculty and Chairman and members of the Department.

Harriet Lange Rheingold as Research Professor, Department of Psychosalary of $12,000 beginning July 1, 1964. Born New York City 1908. Married. Two children. Education: A. B. 1928 Cornell University; M.A. Columbia University; Ph.D. 1955 University of Chicago. Experience: Supervising Psychologist 1938-45, Institute of Juvenile Research Chicago; Assistant Professor 1945-53, Rockford College (Illinois); Research Psychologist 1955-, National Institute of Mental Health Visiting Research Professor January -, 1964, University of North Carolina. Interviewed by: Dr. Rheingold is presently a staff member and is well-known.

Robert T. Daland, as Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, with salary of $11,000 beginning September 1, 1964. Born Milton, Wisconsin 1919. Married. Two children. Education: B. A. 1942 Milton College; M.A. 1947, Ph.D. 1952, University of Wisconsin. Experience: Assistant Professor 1949-56, University of Alabama; Assistant Professor 1956-59, University of Connecticut; Acting Associate Professor 1960-62 University of North Carolina: Interviewed by: Dr. Daland is well-known as a visiting member of our faculty.
