Therese Marie Kelleher, Assistant Professor of Genetics, School of Agriculture resigned August 31, 1962. Robert J. Schramm, Jr. , Assistant Professor of Horticultural Science, School of Agriculture resigned September 28, 1962. George E. Spain, Extension Associate Professor of Crop Science, School of Agriculture resigned October 31, 1962 in order to accept the position of Director, Seed Testing Division, North Carolina Department of Agriculture. M. E. Thigpen, Extension Assistant Professor of Agricultural Economics, School of Agriculture resigned August 31, 1962 in order to accept a position with the ERS in Washington. Appointments Declined Jay Boyd Best as Associate Professor of Experimental Statistics, School of Physical Sciences and Applied Mathematics. Melvin Reier as an Associate Professor of Nuclear Engineering, School of Engineering. On motion made and duly seconded the above report and recommendations for State College were unanimously approved. The Woman's College The following report and recommendations on behalf of the Woman's College as presented by Chancellor Singletary were unanimously approved: Appointments Bruce M. Eberhart as Professor and Head of the Department of Biology, with professorship carrying permanent tenure, at a salary of $12, 500 on basis of nine months of administrative service and teaching, effective February 1, 1963. Born in San Jose, California, 1927. Married, three children. Education: A.B. with honors, San Jose State College 1950; Ph.D. Stanford University 1956. Experience: 1956 to present, Assistant Professor of Genetics at Princeton University. Interviewed by: Chancelor Singletary. Robert B. Rosthal, Assistant Professor of Philosophy, to serve as Acting Head of the Department of Philosophy for the academic year 1962-63, while Dr. Warren Ashby is on leave of absence, with no additional salary. Chinqua-Penn Plantation - Amendment to Lease President Friday requested that formal approval and authorization be given to place before the State Department of Administration and Council of State a request to execute a Second Amendment to the Lease between the University and Mrs. Betsy Penn. The purpose of this amendment is to free from the lease the land on which there is to be constructed the Chinqua-Penn Center and 4-H Club Camp.
