Carolina met in the office of the Governor, in Raleigh, at 11:00 A. M. , on Saturday, January 21,

1950, all members being present, to-wit:

ex-Officio Chairman, Arch T. Allen, Secretary, and Messrs. T. J. Pearsall, Victor S. Bryant, Clarence Poe, John W. Umstead, John J. Parker, John Sprunt Hill, K. Clyde Council, John W. Clark, Mrs. Eaura Weil Cone and Mrs. May L. Tomlinson. were present.

Acting President Carmichael and Chancellors House and Harrelson Chancellor Jackson was absent because of illness.

The meeting was called to order, and on motion of Mr. Pearsall, duly seconded, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved. President Carmichael was recognized and he called on Chancellor Harrelson for his report and recommendations for State College. STATE COLLEGE - Chancellor's Report Chancellor Harrelson submitted the following recommendations: William C. Thompson, Instructor in Economics; born at Chattanooga, Tenn. ; has B. A. degree from University of Chattanooga and M. A. from University of Alabama; effective September 1, 1949; salary $3,600. Michael D. Caffey, Jr. , Assistant Professor of Psychology; born at Greens­ boro, N. C. ; has A.B. from Guilford College, M. A. from Columbia University and has taken additional graduate courses at Duke University; effective, September 1, 1949; salary $4, 000. Harold Maxwell Corter, Assistant Professor of Psychology and Director of the Psychological Clinic; born at Mill Hall, Pa. ; has B. S. from State Teachers College of Pa. , M. E. and Ph. D. from Penn. State College; effective September 1, 1949; salary $4, 800. David J. Hanse, Assistant Professor in Diesel Engineering; born at Brooklyn, New York; has B. S. and M. S. from N. C. State College; effective September 1, 1949, salary $3,600. Luther R. Herman, Instructor in Electrical Engineering; born at Hickory, N. C. ; has B. S. from Lenoir-Rhyne College and candidate for M.
