This Indenture made the 1^st day of October
A D 1845 between Josep A. Whitaker of
the county of Franklin & State of North
Carolina on the one part and Aaron
Neal of the same county & State on the
other part. Witnessith that for and in consideration
of the sum of Five Thousand & seventy
dollars in hand paid by the said Aaron
Neal, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged,
he the said Joseph A. Whitaker
hath bargained, sold & conveyed & by these
present doth bargain sell & convey with
the said Aaron Neal his heirs & assigns
forever, a certain Tract or parcel of land
lying in the aforesaid county of Franklin
on the North side of Cedar creek adjoining
the lands of Guilford Lewis & others and
bounded as follows, to wit. beginning at a
Hornbean Ash on the north bank of
said creek and run n^o 6 E^t 138 poles to a
spanish Oak, thence N^o 20 E^t 39 poles to a
pine thence N^o 86 E^t 68 poles to a Hickory,
thence N^o 36 E^t 165 poles to a white oak,
Sourwood & Gum, thence N^o 38 E^t 50 poles to a
Red Oak on the Old Road, thence along
said Road to a Red Oak on the west side
of said Road in Lewis' line, thence w^t 153
poles to a Red oak in a small branch,
thence N^o 5 E^t 50 poles to a pine, thence
w^t 322 poles to a dead pine & small post
oak W. O. Greens corner, thence S^o 365 poles
to an ash on the bank of Cedar creek,
thence down the meanders of said creek
