express to you my gratitude for all your love
and devotion to me and mine ---
Oh may God keep & bless you one and
all --- I feel deeply for Uncle Henry - but
how his wife is to get over all her lies is
more than I can see - it comes to [sic] plain
from too many different people -- Uncle
Andrew & Aunt Lou - will not [admire?] her -
giving them the lie - but this is not a
plesant [sic] subject - pray write me quickly
tell the girls to write too - Oh I long so much
to see you all - it is near dark & has been
raining for hours - I can scarce see - and
it is time this was put in the office so
I must say goodnight - All here join in
much love to all of you - I cannot find space
to say all the loving words I feel for one
and all - Oh I pray to God to in his mercy
keep us safe & will till [sic] we meet again -
I will write again in a few days
Kiss my beloved little ones each for me many
times & my dear Father sisters & brothers too -
& Matty - with many warm [ones?] in haste
& in the dark I am my own
