May,
30, C.Taylor came here. G.Taylor & self went with him to C.Conways. Maj'r Moore, Mrs Moore, Miss Polly, Reuben Taylor & family dined there, we came here - a little rain about dark and in Night - Col.Taliaferro's Ned brought Nails, Rolls &c from Mr Blair's - G.T. paid Ned 1/3 for Waggonage, he said his master allowed such small matters.
31, A little Rain - I went with G.Taylor to Uncle Taylor's. Gave Rob't Taylor my Int Warrants to have them Registered at Richmond - J.Taylor & his family, Chs' Taylor, two Miss Pendletons, J.Pendleton's wife, Tho's Barbour Jr & wife, dined [Tho'?] Taylor got home from Rockingham yesterday. J.Taylor bought Corn to-day of T.Wood, his own exhausted.
June,
1, [Sunday] Moses brought home from Meeting a pair breeches Holmes made for me. We dined at home.
2, I rode to Maj'r Lee's, bought 8 lb Sugar for G.Taylor and paid 6/- for it. Returned to dinner. Capt Burnley came after dinner & staid two or three hours. Weather has been cool and dry since 8 or 10 days past.
3, Hub Taylor came here & I went w'th him to Dade's Mill - he had some work done at Smith's shop - he kept on home & I called & dined at Mrs. Thomas's. Col. & Maj'r Barbour & families, all from J.Taylor's my father, & Jenny Taylor there. Cloudy & mist in evening. Mr.Quarles borrowed Pit Saw.-- ret't in July- Had 35 Watermelon hills made.
4, Went with my father to J.Taylor's and dined - J.Pendleton, Harry & Bowie, came over last night, two Miss Caty Pendletons and Jenny Taylor dined there - There was a good rain last night & fine season for plantin g- w'ch was done- Planted Negro ground water Melon patch, large kind.
5, J.Taylor sent for us, we dined with him. *Maj'r A.Barbour and his wife &c., +Mrs. T.Barbour, Uncle & Aunt Taylor, Capt Burnley & wife. Mrs.Rowland Thomas. Col. & Maj'r Barbour's sons & c. &c. & C.Taylor dined there. J.Pendleton & Sister, Bowie Pendleton. a few drops rain- warm weather.

James Barbour, the elder, married; first Elizabeth Todd and; second Sarah Todd, daughters of Maj'r William and Martha (Vickers) Todd, and sisters of Richard Todd, who married Elizabeth Richards; the parents of Judge Thomas Todd, of Frankfort, Ky., who married first Miss Harris and second Mrs Lucy (Payne) Washington, sister of Mrs President James Madison-PFT]
6, Jos Clark began ditch by Plant Patch. I rode to Maj'r Lee's & got 500- 8d Nails for my father, to fix Tob'o, C.Taylor there & came over. G.T. & self went to his house and dined with J.Pendletons & T.Barbour's wives & Misses M.Conway & Caty Pendleton jr. While there C.Taylor's wife had a convulsion fit. Weather clear and warm. C.T. sent 1/4 Shoat-
7, J.Taylor, J.Pendleton, Henry & Bowie Pendleton, T.Barbour, Jn'o Taylor and Capt Burnley dined here. We had two bowls punch - Peter car'd about a Bus' Salt to Jos Clarks.
8, [Sunday] I was very unwell, did not go to Church. G.Taylor went, ret'd home and went to J.Taylor's to dinner.
9, J.Clark went rolling - Shearing Sheep-21 old ones- J.Pendleton, his wife, Bowie & Henry Pendleton & their sister, went from J.Taylor's to-day to Culpeper. C.Taylor was here, got some Irish Potatoes to plant in his Garden, about noon we walked there & staid to dinner. Planted Peas in Melon Patch- Col.Johnson's sort
