June
18, My father, Uncle Taylor, Bro'rs James & Charles went to Col Madisons todinner, Maj'r Moore, F.Madison, W,Madison & family, Miss Throckmorton & Miss Moore were there, Uncle Taylor, my brothers, Maj'r Moore & F Madison went home.
19, Maj'r Hite & wife & Sally Madison set out for Frederick, G.T. & & self came home after dinner. [Sally Madison, sister of President,- W.K.A.]
20, Very dry weather, Jos Clark was here & said he had made use of 18/- Indents of G.Taylors. We went to Capt Burnley's, J.Taylor, his wife, Jno.Bell & Miss Jane Taylor dined there. J.Pendleton, Tho's Barbour & their wives & J.Taylor jr were gone to see Col.T.Barbour- a little rain.
21, We dined at J.Taylors, Col.Taliaferro wrote to him & others that Mr.Tatterson was to dance at his house and begin tomorrow.
22, Killed two squirrels, Dined at home.
23, Bro'r James breakfasted here. Cloudy morning, Mr.John Clayton dined here. Went with my father after dinner to Courthouse, Saw Winslow Parker.G.T. spoke to him to attent about settling the price of Mr.Ingrams work.
24, [Sunday] Went with G.T. to Ch Taylors to dinner, a little shower of rain in evening & at night.
25, Went to Court. Mr Ingram said he expected Mr. Garner will meet tomorrow to settle his work.
26, Mr.Winslow Parker came with Capt Burnley in morn'g. Mr.Ingram, Ch's Porter & Mr.Garner met and Parker & Garner settled Mr Ingrams work at £152. which I think extremely high. We went between 1 & 2 o'clock to Court.

Paid J.Gaines 10/4 for G.Taylors Ex'on vs W.Finnell. Do to W.Ingram for 3 Pine Tables & 2 Gall's Vinegar; vizt 2 dollars to him, 1 do to Caslow & 2/- to J.Gaines LevyAlso paid for W.Ingram to Gaines, 2 dol's(of G.T's) Indents and 27/- Int Warrants for Taxes. Paid J.Gaines £1.4.2. Int Warrants towards paying John Shropshire's tax, for Mr.B.Porter pr acco't. Also 30/- Cert'e to Jas Wood for B.Porters tax. Let Mr.Eras Taylor have £14.2.0. Cert'e for which he is to pay (1/3) £4.14.0 when it suits him. Geo.Taylor paid Jos.Wood 37/6 Cash for 15 County Leines also £10. Certificates for his tax 5/11. unpaid. F.Taylor paid Jos Wood 5/-- Cash for 2 County Leines & 24/-his tax on Certificates-
27, J.Taylor, J.Pendleton, T.Barbour & their wives &c dined at Midland.
28, Rained a little-Very dry weather for several weeks. Ch's Taylor, his family & Miss M.Conway, dined here.
29, My father complained of being unwell. We went to James Taylors to dinner. Negroes weeding Tobacco.
30, My father complains a good deal to day- Sent to Chs Taylor who brought him a dose of Aloes which he took at night-
July,
1, [Sunday]My father continues ill. I went to Church, paid Jas Gaines 3/- for his acting as Clerk &c. returned home, a little rain in evening.
2, My father still sick. John Shropshire came for some wool on Ch's Dickinson's acco't, let him have 29 1/2 lb at 1/- 29/6, he said there was a good rain at his house- Gathered Cucumbers-
3, Planted Irish potatoes in Sweet potato patch. Small shower of rain.
4, Went to Court house-my father wanted limes-none there. Col'o Alcock let me have a pocket bottel of Shrub & would take nothing for it. Got 1 lb brown thread at Maj'r Lees for G.Taylor- Ch's Taylor called here & while we were at dinner Col Madison came-we had fried Chicken, Cold bacon & milk for dinner- I went to Co't house after dinner. [Col.Madison, father of President, WKA]
5, A shower of rain fell last night, wet 1/2 inch. Bro'r James, J.Pendleton, Chas Taylor, his wife & Miss M.Conway came after breakfast and staid an hour. Reu Taylor was here after dinner-Replanted Cucumbers.
