DIARY OF FRANCIS TERRY LEAK (1803-1864) Mississippi

Francis Terry Leak (1803-1364) was the son of waiter and Hannah Pickett Leak of Rockingham, North Carolina. Be was admitted to the North Carolina bar in 1824 and later moved to Mississippi where be engaged in planting. At the time of this diary he was in the Benton County and Tippah County area.

Two typed volumes, of which this is tbe first, cover the period from January 1859 to September 1862 and represent the fifth manuscript volume in a series of five. The pages 1-336 contained in this volume cover the dates January 1859 to May 6, 1861.

Copied from the original manuscript volume now in the Southern Historical Collection at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N. C. - 1947 -
