Petersburg July 4th 1770 Esteemed Friend

I have just recd. thy favour pr Shadk. Forrest & in answer thereto, have examined the Errors in the last Invoice which stand right in my Books except the doz: [Torlington?] which I have given you Cr for, I dont know how Benja. made the mistake in the Invoice sent, the Rum is charg'd in my Book & I think I put it down on the back of the Letters & I think thou will find the Loaf Sugar charg'd in the Invoice sent, as it makes up the £29.0.5 [C?] which thou put down in thy Letter & then gives Cr for it besides - I have got the Tobo. Look'd at one Hhd: is refus'd & the other would have pass'd but must be repacked being much Damag'd by the wet I shall offer what is sav'd to R. Lamb. I pd. him thy order at Wmburg, at which place I staid till most of the people were gone except the Drawers & Buyers of Bills, the drawers were trying to get it to 20 P.Ct & how they will settle I can't tell for they are not yet come up, I understand some of them sd. they would stay there till October before they would take under 20 P.Ct. I could only get a Bill from A Buchanan for £75 -- he said he could not draw for anymore I shall send the 1st or 2d. to J Alston & have inclos'd thee the 3d. Inclos'd is Invoice of the goods agreeable to thy order (except the Slates) I hope they will please Excuse hast as the waggoner is in a hurry & I am very busy getting up my hay I am respectfully

Thy sincere Friend Edwd Stabler
