Your favor of the 26th was handed me by R. Haddock in his passage home from Salisbury
Waving till I have the pleasure of seeing you any remarks on the subject of that letter, I must insist on your neither cutting nor carving any part of the judgement vs Clifton as I particularly told you on your return from Buckingham Court to my house. And as your letter of the 11th April last informs me that the verdict was for £100: 10: 3/4 that sum I
shall claim playment of.
I have ever kept fair and just books, and should any sinister plan be fallen upon by some adept in calculation or errasing I will be regulated by no such report I assure you.
I had a partial payment from him the other day of £82:6:20 and at the request of him and his friend desired the sheriff to return the execution staid for the leave on getting paymt. of the costs, which is more perhaps than any other man would have done in my situation
after being [jockeyed?] by [one?] of his party as well as himself in that business.
Your porcupines shal be handed you at Canven Ct. house as I am afraid they might get damaged in transmitting them by a messenger. I am yes am yours R Therrly ?? 9th Oct ??
