Newbern July 14th 1791

Dear Sir

I received yours by Mr. Reeves & have complied with the Contents therof & hear send you by him one of the largest Hhds of still [?] Rum to be got. twenty four bushels of shells & one hundred & fifty limes the over plush of money I hear send back would have sent more shells but the waggoner would not take them. Mr. Turner has racked his rum to 6/8 owing to his paying one Shilling hard money pr. galon Duties which Commenced the furst of this Instant tho I made him allow me [4?] of [pr?] hundred for the Tobacco So that I think the Sales & perchases will meet with your approbation. a bill of the perticulars is hear inclosed also a Certificate of the Hhd Rum being Inspected: which the new Law makes necessary to accompany the same where ever it shall be sent or other wize liable to seized. Mrs Davis Joynes me in tendering our best respects to Mrs Bennehan & yourself.
