No Carolina Orange Co May.25.1785 Gentlemen Johnston & Bennehan wrote you 15th December last. Copy of which I now Inclose~ I am extremly sorry to Inform you of the death of my worthy Friend & Partner Mr William Johnston who departed this Life 3. [Inst?]

In March last he directed [aremittance?] to be made your House on [our?] Acco.t by a Mr McCulloch of London who [owes?] him a considerable Sum a nd which I hope you will before this reaches have [recd?] advice of~ If you have not Sent the remaining past our last order I beg leave to request you will not Ship them now as I wish to close the Companys affairs in the most Speedy Manner in my power- I have lodged a Small parcel of Tobacco with Mr David Buchanan of Petersburg and have requested him to dispose of it and remit you the amount in an undoubted Bill of exchange or to Ship the [Specie?]- I hope the Tob.o will make aremittance upwards of £200 Sterling you will be pleased to Furnish our Acco.t Current by first opportunity The Balance that may remian due you after the above pyments are made Shall be punctually remitted by Gent. any produce we Ship~ youl please observe in Shiping the cards that no difficulties arise on that head We Shall lodge some Tobacco in the hands of Mr David Buchanan for the purpose of procuring a Bill towards payment of the goods now ordered & which we hope will be negotiated in a month or Two We intended giving our correspndent at Petersburg directions to Import a Carriage from London but our Friend Mr [Dumlop?] Informs us they come much cheaper from Glasgow and equally good. We request youl please to procure a post [chaise?] are calculated for a Lady to travel with a child or on rough roads in aneighbourhood therefore does not require to be Large [harness?] for a pair of Horses, Mr. [Dumlop?] also Informs they are [often?] to be bought at Second hand little worse of ware and much cheaper we beg youl get one of that descriptionThe Body to be packed in a Case. the wheels [poles & c.?] in Bundles~ We are very respectfully Gent.
