Edenton 12th June 1783

By Mr Cain I am pleased to acknowledge the reception of yours, by Mr Johnson with £13. the Tobacco I have sold @ 32/pr. ct. 2124 [ ? ] Nett is £133.19.8 out of which I have paid ten dollars for the freight of it from Halifax here. I have sold the Bay horses for £30 apeice — which price is the highest, I could procure for him in these parts — I expect to be in Halifax in ten day or a forghtnite when I shall be able to inform you, whether we shall gain or sink money by our copartnership — I am not at all apprehensive that we shall sink any thing considerable, I believe we shall continiue the Store at Halifax — I have sent a few things for my sister they are all i could get — should

Should you continue in the notion to sell Non Paril, you had better bring him to Benton this fall and start him for the purses-- which will be something considerable, I dont think their will be any horse started that will be able to cope with him.

I heard on Wednesday last by the way of M Goodloe, that my mairs were done with the Horse, and I would have wished to have sent for them before this, but harvest being on hand has prevented me, I would wish them both to be tried this evening and Tomorrow morning before they are brought away.
